A Task Force meeting of G-77 member states was held on Draft Resolution on Transparency in Political Finance
Vienna, 09 December, 2025 — In order to improve transparency of political party financing, the funding of candidates for public office, and election campaign financing—and to strengthen the position of the international community in this field—Mongolia, together with Norway, Albania, and Ghana, has initiated a draft resolution titled “Enhancing Transparency in the Financing of Electoral Candidates, Political Parties, and Election Campaigns.” This draft resolution is tabled for adoption to the 11th Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption, to be held in Doha, Qatar, on December 15–19.
The draft resolution was first presented to the States Parties on October 9, and 11 rounds of discussions were held to gather and consolidate comments from all sides, improve the text. Today on December 9, the draft was presented to representatives of the member states of the “Group of 77,” which currently unites 134 countries, calling for support for the resolution at the upcoming conference in Doha. The event was led by Mongolia’s Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, H.E. M.Tsengeg, with the Permanent Representatives of Ghana, Albania, and Norway also participating.
The purpose of the resolution is to strengthen public trust in democratic institutions, promote social stability, reinforce the principles of ethics and integrity in public service, advance sustainable development globally, and play an important role in upholding the rule of law.
